Dallas — Some people kick-off the holiday season camping out in a parking lot, hoping to save a few bucks on the latest must-have-it. For the rest of us, nothing starts off the season like a traditional tree lighting in the town center. The AT&T Performing Arts Center will hold its third annual Holiday at the Center Tree Lighting Festival on Friday, Nov. 30 starting at 5 p.m., hosted by KLUV-FM personality Jody Dean.
The event is free to the public. The center will have ice skating, a life-sized snow globe, food trucks and a chance to see the big man himself, Santa Claus. The lighting of the tree is scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
The festival will feature performances by the Dallas String Quartet, the Jaime Reyes Trio, Denise Lee, visual artist Rolando Diaz and a special performance by Cirque Dreams, which will bring its show Holidaze to the Winspear Opera House in a few weeks.
The Nutcracker, a seasonal favorite presented by Texas Ballet Theater will be playing at the Winspear Opera House starting at 8 p.m. Click here for all the Nutcracker performance details.
If you're concerned about parking, don't forget that the Pearl Street light rail station is a mere two blocks from the center. Be sure to check DART for train schedules, Park & Ride locations and other information.
