Brad McEntire in CHOP

Brad McEntire Headed to NY Fringe

The man behind Audacity Theatre Lab returns to New York International Fringe Festival with his one-man show CHOP.

published Wednesday, July 18, 2012

Dallas-based playwright/performer Brad McEntire has been to the New York International Fringe Festival several times, and he's returning this year with his solo show CHOP, which debuted at WaterTower Theatre's Out of the Loop Festival in 2010.

Before he takes it to NY, you can see it at Nouveau 47 Theatre, July 27-28, presented by McEntire's outfit Audacity Theatre Lab.

Here's more from the news release:

CHOP concerns a man totally isolated from the world around him. A chance meeting with a mysterious tattooed woman leads him to the place he might truly belong… an underground amputation fetish group.

After readings in Seattle (at the Outsider’s Inn Collective) and New York City (Cry Havoc Theatre) McEntire premiered CHOP at the 2010 Out of the Loop Fringe Festival at Addison’s Water Tower Theatre. Since then he has toured and performed the show at multiple venues and festivals, including the Phoenix Fringe, the New Orleans Fringe, Houston Fringe, Portland Mini-Fringe, College of Santa Fe and San Antonio’s Overtime Theatre. CHOP has been accepted into the 2012 New York international Fringe Festival (aka FringeNYC). CHOP was one of 200 shows chosen from over 1,000 submissions. In addition to FringeNYC in August, CHOP will head to the Seattle Fringe Festival in mid-September 2012.

The piece was directed and sound designed by Andrew J. Merkel of Brooklyn, NY. Brad McEntire wrote, designed and performs the piece.

Brad McEntire is the founding Artistic Director of the small theatre collective Audacity Theatre Lab. He is a playwright, performer, improviser, webcartoonist and podcast host. He has produced three other shows at the New York International Fringe Festival since the year 2000. More information about his activities can be viewed at:

CHOP plays at Nouveau 47 Theatre July 27, 2012 at 8:00 PM and July 28, 2012 at 8:00 PM and 10:30 PM. Suggested donation of $10 at the door. Nouveau 47 Theatre is located at the Magnolia Lounge (Margo Jones Building), Fair Park, 1121 First Ave., Dallas, TX 75210. For more information visit: or
