Jerome Weeks reports on KERA and Art&Seek that the 2013 conference for the Theatre Communications Group is coming to Dallas. The campaign to get the event here was headed up by Kevin Moriarty and the Dallas Theater Center, which formed a host committee with members of the local theater community, with help from the Office of Cultural Affairs and the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Dallas beat out Houston and Kansas City for this honor, and it means that about 1,300 representatives from hundreds of national theaters will converge on Dallas and Fort Worth in the summer of 2013.
In Weeks' story, Moriarity says: "It was an exciting couple of days, the whole city coming together to convince the national theater community that what we have here is special."
TCG is a 50-year old organization that serves as a networking group for regional theaters around the country, is a major publisher of plays, and also produces the monthly American Theatre magazine.
