Nouveau 47 Theatre, the group that performs in Margo Jones' historic theater space in Fair Park, has just announced its third season, which includes new plays by Austin writer Sarah Saltwick and local writer/directors Matthew Tomlanovich and Tom Parr IV.
There's also some changes in leadership. Co-founder Parr will remain artistic director, and he's joined by Michael Federico as managing director; Tomlanovich as director of artist development; Shawn Magill as director of outreach; Jim Kuenzer as director of marketing; and Clay Wheeler as literary manager. (Magill and Federico, along with Seth Magill, are the authors of a new musical that premieres this weekend at the space, On the Eve.)
And here's more from the news release:
In the coming year we will announcing our expanding ensemble, more workshops, more music events and more late night comedy including our New Works/New Voices Festival, slated for November 2013.
Our Resident Artist and ensemble member John Michael, writer and performer of The A Gays: Stillwater, Oklahoma, returns to the stage early next year for an all new solo performance piece.
The 2013 line-up is:
She Creatures
by Sarah Saltwick
February 28, March 1-3, 7-11 and 14-16
Into the Night
by Matthew Tomlanovich
May 30, 31, June 1, 5-8 and 12-15
Chasing Alice
Story by Tom Parr IV
August 8-11, 15-19 and 22-24
The ensemble continues to grow and change as we add new members, and to facilitate our growth we have created a group of Ensemble Directors. Each of these members serves a specific function for Nouveau 47, but also helps in other ways.
