Trinity Shakes in 2012


Fort Worth's Shakespeare company will do Merchant and Merry Wives in 2012, with David Coffee as Falstaff.

The 2012 season for Trinity Shakespeare Festival in Fort Worth has been announced. It'll be the fourth year for the company, which produces two of the Bard's works in rotating repertory (with the same group of actors) at Texas Christian University. The first three years juxtaposed a tragedy with a comedy: Romeo and Juliet/Twelfth Night in 2009, Hamlet/Much Ado About Nothing in 2010 and Macbeth/As You Like It in 2011.

For 2012, it's The Merchant of Venice and The Merry Wives of Windsor, both on the comedy side. Here's the official announcement:

The award-winning Trinity Shakespeare Festival is pleased to announce its 2012 summer season. The Festival will produce for its fourth season Shakespeare’s riveting tragic comedy The Merchant of Venice directed by Stephen Fried alongside Shakespeare’s most delightful comic romp The Merry Wives of Windsor featuring Trinity Shakespeare Festival favorite David Coffee as Sir John Falstaff and directed by the Festival’s Artistic Director, T.J. Walsh.
