Dallas — The 2017-18 season for Prism Movement Theater, its fifth, has been announced. The first two shows we’ve already known about because they are co-productions and were announced by the other companies: Lear, which is part of Theatre Three’s Theatre Too season; and Gog and Magog: Two Clowns Trapped in Hell, part of Cara Mía Theatre Company’s season. The third show in this season called “Shake the Spear” is a wordless Tempest, performed in April at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center.

Below is the lineup with descriptions and dates:

Lear

Written by Katy Tye

Oct. 26-Nov. 17

Join Prism Movement Theater as they adapt one of English language's greatest plays, all without uttering a single word. LEAR is a beautiful and moving work of dance theater that focuses on the relationship between King Lear and his daughters.
When King Lear is betrayed by his corrupted daughters Regan and Goneril, his sanity is sent into a tailspin, forcing his only faithful daughter Cordelia to take up the mantle and fight for her father's dignity and the fate of the kingdom.

Gog and Magog: Two Clowns Trapped in Hell

Written by Jeffrey Colengelo and Hope Endrenyi

February 24 - March 11, 2018

Gog and Magog are two clowns trapped in hell’s kitchen and their only hope of escape is cooking the perfect meal for God. Though Gog and Magog are best friends, they are terrible cooks. Their friendship is tested along with their culinary skills in this wordless comedy in the tradition of Mump and Smoot and the Three Stooges. Cara Mía Theatre and Prism Movement Theatre reunite for another co-production that will be sure to surprise and fill your bellies with laughter.

Tempest

Written by Katy Tye and Jeff Colangelo

April 7-232018

In this darkly comedic, wordless take on The Tempest, Prism Movement Theater follows a lonely, stranded and shipwrecked Prospero as he sorts through his past betrayals, present predicament, and future revenge. Through the use of magic and puppetry, Prospero gives audiences a glimpse into the mind of one of Shakespeare's greatest characters.
