Dallas — Several months ago, Ashley H. White and Joe Messina announced they were starting a new theater company, via the video above. On Monday, Aug. 28, at the lake level space at the Bath House Cultural Center, the co-artistic directors made good on the promise of a full season with the announcement of the first year for Imprint Theatreworks. The event featured entertainment from local vocalists singing songs from and inspired by the works on the season.

The Dallas-based group has four full productions lined up for 2018, bookended by David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross and the hit British musical Blood Brothers. In between will be the regional premiere of Julia Jordan and Juliana Nash's musical Murder Ballad, in an immersive staging at Bath House lake level; and the regional premiere of Lauren Gunderson's The Revolutionists. There will also be a new play festival designed for local playwrights.

In addition to White and Messina, Imprint's team includes business manager Benjamin Bratcher, strategic development manager Billy Betsill, and company manager Jessie Wallace. The group has already secured non-profit status and has a four-member board.

Venues for the final two shows of the season, The Revolutionists and Blood Brothers, will be announced later.

Below is the news release with show dates and descriptions:

Inspired by a song from one of our shows, Built for Longing is a season that focuses on the internal desire for more and how it can unravel us. From needing to be on top, to fantasizing about a past lover, to starting a revolution, and to always wondering what it’s like on the other side, Built for Longing features four emotionally honest, powerful, and driven pieces of theatre that will leave IMPRINT’s audiences touched and excited for our vision.

“We are thrilled about our Season and what it represents. We chose to focus on four shows that are not only extremely relevant to today’s audiences but tell very real, powerful, and intense stories," says White. "We’ve bookended the season with exciting takes on two contemporary classics. Then, in the middle are two area premieres, both written by female playwrights and featuring strong female roles, two things which we are very passionate about."

"That fundamental human trait is what we are exploring in our first season, Built for Longing," adds Messina. "We will begin and end with two modern masterpieces focusing on the hopes of those who feel the world is ignoring them and passing them by. Then, in the middle are two area premieres that deal with the unbridled passion and drive that forces us to do both good and evil."
