Plano — The first four shows of the 2017 season for Brick Road Theatre, one of North Texas' most promising new theaters, have been announced. There will be at least one more production added to this lineup. Performances are in Plano at the complex that houses the Courtyard Theatre and the Cox Building Playhouse.
Brick Road's mission is to produce quality musical theater with live musicians/orchestras.
It begins with a one-night benefit for the Grace and Brian Loncar Foundation, of Nora and Delia Ephron's Love, Loss & What I Wore. That play was produced at the recently closed Contemporary Theatre of Dallas in February 2016, featuring Grace Loncar and her mother, Sue (in the first week). The benefit performance is directed by Wendy Welch and features Megan Kelly Bates, Marianne Galloway, Jennifer Kuenzer, Cara Statham Serber, and Katie Moyes Williams. The performance is 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31.
The other three shows are Terrence McNally's Master Class featuring Diana Sheehan as Maria Callas, and directed by Terry Martin, former artistic director of WaterTower Theatre; the terrific Flaherty, Ahrens and McNally musical A Man of No Importance, directed by Lon Barrera; and Kander and Ebb's masterpiece Cabaret.
