Dallas — The second season for AT&T Performing Arts Center's Off-Broadway on Flora series—these are tours of national and regional shows in smaller spaces—has been announced, and if the first season looked amazing (and it has been), this line-up is even more stellar.
We'll get to see seminal New York actor, playwright and drag artist Charles Busch in A Divine Evening with Charles Busch; the acclaimed musical Murder for Two; Benjamin Scheuer's raved-about autobiographic solo show The Lion (see video above); the song cycle Ghost Quartet, from the creators of Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812; and Austin's Intergalactic Nemesis, which came to Fort Worth a few years back.
Guys, support this series—it's an important addition to North Texas' growing and evolving theater scene.

Nominated for the Lucille Lortel Award for outstanding lead actor in a musical, Murder for Two is the perfect blend of music, mayhem and murder! In this hilarious 90-minute show, two performers play 13 roles – not to mention the piano – in a witty and winking homage to old-fashioned murder mysteries. The New York Times calls it “INGENIOUS! A snazzy double-act that spins out a comic mystery animated by funny, deftly turned songs.” You won’t want to miss this killer musical comedy!

Note: May contain adult language.
Charles Busch, author and star of such plays as The Divine Sister, Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, The Tribute Artist and The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife presents his award winning cabaret, full of classic lounge songs and plenty of saucy dish. Busch's CABARET is a pastiche of classic cabaret songs, anecdotes from Busch’s career, a medley that suggests an early‐1930s pre‐Code melodrama and a mini‐play about the fictional show-biz wannabe, Miriam Passman. The show, full of outrageous personal stories, original characters, Hollywood film parody and classic songs, promises to be a smashing good time and the must-see event of the fall!
THE LION – Wyly Theatre
Thursday, February 11 – Friday, February 12 - 8 p.m.
Saturday, February 13 – 2 p.m. & 8 p.m.
A good storyteller uses everything he has. So Benjamin Scheuer uses his guitar – actually, six guitars – in THE LION, a wholly original downtown musical experience that tells one man’s gripping coming-of-age story. The award-winningsongwriter inspires and disarms with his raw wit and emotional depth as he leads you on a rock n’ roll journey from boyhood to manhood, through pain and healing, to discover the redemption power of music.
GHOST QUARTET – Wyly Theatre
Thursday, April 7 – Friday, April 8 - 8 p.m.
Saturday, April 9 – 7 p.m. & 10 p.m.
Note: Ages 21+ only
Ghost Quartet is a haunting song cycle about love, death, and whiskey from Dave Malloy, the two-time OBIE Award-winning mind responsible for 2012’s Off-Broadway hit electropop opera, Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812.
A camera breaks and four friends drink, in four interwoven narratives spanning seven centuries: a warped fairy tale about two sisters, a treehouse astronomer and a lazy evil bear; a retelling of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher"; a purgatorial intermezzo about Scheherazade and the ghost of Thelonious Monk; and a contemporary fable about a subway murder.
Blurring the line between theater and contemporary music performance, the show is a theatrical presentation of an album, staged in the round, with the musicians seated amongst the audience.
THE INTERGALACTIC NEMESIS – Dallas City Performance Hall
Thursday, May 12 – Friday, May 13 - 8 p.m.
Saturday, May 14 – 2 p.m. & 8 p.m.
