Sheran Keyton as Etta James

Second Season for DVA Productions

The 2012-'13 season for Fort Worth group features a tribute to Etta James, a Joe Rogers musical and a comedy with a twist, all in a new location.

published Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Here's the 2012-'13 season for Fort Worth's DVA Productions, the group founded by performer Sheran Goodspeed Keyton. Like the group's inaugural season, it features four titles, but the big news is that it's moving to a new home, from the Pantagleize space to the Fort Worth Community Arts Center's Sanders Theatre. (One guess is that it's easier to produce in the Sanders now that Amphibian Stage Productions has a new space, which it will inaugurate in October.)

The season kicks off with a tribute to the late, great Etta James, Simply Etta, which Keyton performed at playwright diannetucker's venue in Deep Ellum, Tucker's Blues, in 2011. It continues with a new play called The Catch, a revival of the beloved bittersweet comedy Steel Magnolias (perhaps with a black or mix-raced cast?), and wraps up with Sam Shade, Joe Rogers' first musical that he wrote after his longtime collaborator at Jubilee Theatre, Rudy Eastman, died.
