Dallas — Join TheaterJones and the AT&T Performing Arts Center for a special screening of the Hollywood musical The Greatest Showman, which stars Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams and Zendaya in this story of circus magnate P.T. Barnum.
The event is 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9 at the Alamo Drafthouse, the Cedars location just south of downtown Dallas. Tickets are $5, but you also get a $5 food coupon, so, well, you do the math.
You can buy tickets here.
Both Jackman and Efron have musical theater backgrounds, with Jackman starring onstage in Australia, London (notably Oklahoma!, when he was nominated for an Olivier award) and elsewhere before he became a megastar; he has also been a hit on Broadway and starred in the film of Les Misérables. Efron made his name in the High School Musical series and the film of the musical Hairspray.
The film's music is written and composed by the dynamo duo of Justin Paul and Benj Pasek, who won last year's Tony Award for Dear Evan Hansen, and also composed last year's movie musical La La Land, for which they picked up Golden Globes and Oscars.
At the screening, we'll have several giveaways, including tickets to shows at AT&T Performing Arts Center. One winner will get two tickets to opening night of the shows on the rest of the 2017-18 season: The Humans, Jersey Boys and Bright Star; and another will get two tickets to opening night of the shows Off-Broadway on Flora series, which continues in late January with Small Mouth Sounds, 600 Highwaymen's The Fever, Celebrity Autobiography, and Second City's Summer Blockbuster.
You can see more about the screening on the Facebook event page.
