TACA, the organization that gives millions to Dallas arts groups each year, celebrates its 50th anniversary this week with a gala that will feature a new dance choreographed by Bridget L. Moore of Dallas Black Dance Theatre, with dancers from that company, plus Bruce Wood Dance and Dark Circles Contemporary Dance, and curated by Charles Santos of TITAS.

There will also be chances to bid, in a silent auction, on some big items. Remember, this is money that goes back to the arts groups.

TACA (The Arts Community Alliance) has unveiled the luxury auction items that are now available for bidding online and in person on Friday, September 8 at its 50th Anniversary Gala, to be held at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, 2821 Turtle Creek Blvd. TACA has also provided more details on the world premiere dance it has commissioned to be performed that evening. Limited tickets for the gala, which start at $500, are still available by calling the TACA office at 214.520.3926 or by emailing Live auction bids can also be made by calling that same number.

TACA’s 50th Anniversary co-chairs are Wanda Gierhart and Chef Dean Fearing. The co-chairs for the gala are the TACA 50th Anniversary committee members.

The celebratory evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails in a luxuriously decorated, outdoor, air-conditioned tent.

Wolford McCue, TACA Carlson president and executive director, said, “This signature gala celebrates five decades of TACA’s commitment to the arts in North Texas. In addition, the world premiere performance by three of TACA’s grantees will showcase and celebrate the collaboration among three of the top dance troupes in our city, helping to make this an extra special night.”

At 7:15 p.m., guests will watch the world premiere performance of "Celebration," which features the talent of Bruce Wood Dance, Dallas Black Dance Theatre and Dark Circles Contemporary Dance and is set to a medley of Stevie Wonder songs. The performance has been curated by Charles Santos, TITAS Presents executive/artistic director, and choreographed by Bridget L. Moore, artistic director of Dallas Black Dance Theatre. The dancers have been rehearsing together for the past month.
