Dallas — Jake Heggie is arguably the most successful living opera composer. He was the composer of Moby-Dick (libretto by Gene Scheer), which premiered at Dallas Opera in 2010, and will return here in 2017; and he's the composer of the new opera Great Scott, with librettist Terrence McNally, which premieres at TDO beginning Oct. 30 (look for several interviews and features about that coming on TheaterJones). Heggie and McNally also created on of the most performed new operas, Dead Man Walking.
Heggie has a new recording out, of The Radio Hour, a choral opera in one-act, done with librettist Gene Scheer, and also features songs performed by Met and Dallas Opera star Susan Graham. There's an interview about the project above. The album was released Oct. 9 via Delos Productions, and is available through Amazon, ArkivMusic or at HB Direct. We're offering a free download from it for a limited time.
