New York's Metropolitan Opera is in its 10th season of broadcasting its opera productions to movie theaters around the world in The Met: Live in HD series. And this season, we'll have tickets to give away for all of them, to the Hulen Movie Tavern in Fort Worth and the Cinemark Frisco Square.

These productions happen close to noon on Saturdays and at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Of course, it's opera, so expect to spend some time in the theater. There are intermissions.

The next giveaway is for Verdi's Otello, directed by Tony-winning Broadway director Bartlett Sher. You'll remember this is the production in which the Met announced that it would no longer use black make-up for the tenor in the lead role, based on Shakespeare's tragedy.

Conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin leads Aleksandrs Antonenko in his first Met performances of the tormented Moor of Venice, with Sonya Yoncheva in her role debut as his innocent wife, Desdemona. The staging, also featuring Zeljko Lučić as Otello's sinister rival, Iago; Dimitri Pittas as Cassio; and Günther Groissböck as Lodovico, also marks the Met debut of set designer Es Devlin, whose previous designs include the 2014 revival of Machinal on Broadway and numerous opera productions for Covent Garden, La Scala, and other leading companies.

These tickets are for 11:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 at both theaters.

To be entered to win a pair, email and put MET OTELLO SHER in the subject line. Include your exact name, phone number and an email address where you'd like the tickets emailed. And indicate which performance and which theater you'd like, which is a must to be considered for the tickets.

The choices are:

  • 11:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 at Hulen Move Tavern, Fort Worth
  • 11:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 at Cinemark Frisco Square
  • 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Hulen Move Tavern, Fort Worth
  • 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Cinemark Frisco Square

For the Oct. 17 showing, you have until 11:50 Thursday, Oct. 15 to enter; and for the Oct. 21 showing, the deadline is 11:55 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18. We will give them your name and email and they'll email you the tickets, which you can print or show on your smartphone at the box office.

TheaterJones staffers and contributors, and their family members, are ineligible to play. Thanks For Reading
