Arlington — Here's some news from Theatre Arlington: Executive Director Norman Ussery, who was hired in 2013, has resigned. Valerie Galloway, the former managing director of Lyric Stage, has been named interim executive director. There is no word on why Ussery, who came here from North Carolina, resigned, but we're working on finding out details.
Meanwhile, here's the official statement from Craig Lidell, president of the Theatre Arlington board of directors:
Theatre Arlington Board President Craig Lidell announced today that Valerie Galloway, former managing director of Lyric Stage, will be joining Theatre Arlington as interim executive director effective Thursday, Feb. 12. Galloway, who earned an M.F.A in directing from the University of Mississippi, has acted and directed professionally for more than 25 years.
"Valerie is certainly no stranger to Theatre Arlington," Lidell said. "She has directed shows and her daughters have frequently performed in our shows."
Galloway is married to University of Texas at Arlington theater professor, Joe Chapa, and has three daughters, all involved in theater.
"I am thrilled to be a part of the Theatre Arlington family. I look forward to working with the incredible staff and continuing Theatre Arlington's tradition of artistic excellence," she said.
Galloway is replacing former executive director Norman Ussery, who resigned Feb. 11.
