Dallas — This week, Prism Movement Co., a newish outfit run by Jeffrey Colangelo and Katy Tye, will revive their original production Galatea at the big green warehouse in Trinity Groves, at 2919 Bataan St., Dallas. The show opens Friday, April 11, but if you go on Saturday, April 12, you can stay for an after-party co-hosted by TheaterJones.
It'll be busy in the Groves that night, with several events coinciding with Dallas Arts Week and the Dallas Art Fair.
The show, which runs about an hour, is described thusly: Galatea is an innovative, one-of-a-kind wordless movement show that uses paper, aerial silks, and weight-sharing to explore the story of an artist who is attempting to create the perfect girl as his one true love. In the process, he creates an entire world made entirely out of paper and populated by a vibrant plethora of characters who teach the girl what it is to be human.
Around the performance space, and in the same building, is a sculptural exhibition presented by Hayley-Henman Contemporary Art, 6-11 p.m. The partying commences after the performance, around 9 p.m. Stop by and say hello!
You can purchase tickets to Galatea, which are $15, here.
