Dallas — To celebrate two decades of the Festival of Independent Theatres, the organization has launched a #MyFITStory campaign, and is highlighting the 20 Faces of FIT. These are 20 people, or groupings of people, who have made a significant impact on the festival—as the festival has had on them. Each made a video focused on their FIT story at a media day event on June 5.
TheaterJones is showcasing one of the Faces each day through the beginning of the festival, which runs July 13 to Aug. 4 at the Bath House Cultural Center. The videos were shot by FIT.
Next up: Catherine DuBord.
DuBord's story is similar to other actors with a FIT history: She was getting work on local stages, but working at FIT—she's been in three FIT shows, all by WingSpan Theatre Company—helped her make connections with other theatermakers in town. Her three shows were Edward Albee's Finding the Sun, Isabella Russell-Ides' Lydie Marland in the Afterlife, and Mark Twain's The Diaries of Adam and Eve (adapted by Susan Sargeant).
She's not in FIT 2018 (you can next see her in Stage West's Don't Dress for Dinner), but considers FIT, and especially WingSpan (she has performed with that group several times outside of FIT) an artistic home.
"I like the camaradie with other artists," she says. "When you do one show at one theater, your cast has a bond. [At FIT] you got to meet other artists you might not have worked with before."
