Dallas — In this episode of Gregorian Rants I talk to Paul Curran, who directs Rimsky-Korsakov's opera The Golden Cockerel, a co-production with Santa Fe Opera. This is the Russian composer's final opera, and although it's rarely done now, it was once quite popular. Curran talks about the difficulties and history of the work. The work is performed in Russian, with English supertitles.
The Golden Cockerel runs Oct. 25-Nov. 2 at the AT&T Performing Arts Center’s Winspear Opera House. For more information, click here.
