Dallas — The fifth annual DFW South Asian Film Festival is in full swing, with more films and events on Saturday and Sunday. You can read about the entire festival, which is sponsored by Toyota, here. Tickets are now only available at the AMC Village on the Parkway (in Addison) box office.

We had a chance to interview two directors and one actor represented in the festival, and the video interviews are below.

First is director Anand Kamalakar, whose documentary Salam tells the story of Abdus Salam, the first Muslim to win the Nobel Prize of Physics, in 1979. In my interview with him, he talks about the significance this man had on science, and how his religious beliefs still make him a controversial figure in South Asian history. The film screens at 2:45 p.m. Saturday in a block of Pakistan programming.

Next up is actor Abhimanyu Dassani, who stars as the title character in The Man Who Feels No Pain, an unconventional action flick about a man who uses his Congenital Insensitivity—a rare condition in which he doesn't feel pain—to use his "power" to fight evil. The film screens at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday.

Finally is director Aijaz Khan, whose film Hamid is the closing film of the festival, at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. In the film, a Kashmiri boy in search of his missing father uses 786, a sacred number in Islam, to try to talk to his dad. One day the phone call is answered.
