Every week in Places!, TheaterJones rounds up the weekend and coming week for theater, music, opera, dance and comedy performances that are opening/happening on North Texas stages.

This week: See the world of Chinese choreographer Shen Wei on stage and on museum walls; Theatre Three introduces you to Vera Stark; Circle Theatre finds love in an elevator; and Fun House has fun with Game of Thrones and "junior" editions of musicals.

By the Way, Meet Vera Stark at Theatre Three

1. Shen Wei Dance Arts, led by Chinese choreographer Shen Wei, closes the season for TITAS, 8 p.m. Thursday, June 19 at the AT&T Performing Arts Center's Winspear Opera House. Also, check out an exhibit of Shen Wei's art at the Crow Collection of Asian Art, running through Sept. 28

2. Theatre Three closes its season with the area premiere of Lynn Nottage's By the Way, Meet Vera Stark, which explores the life of a woman of color trying to make it in early Hollywood. Previews begin June 19, opens June 23 and runs through July 13

3. Circle Theatre in Fort Worth does the nation's second production of Michael Hollinger's Hope & Gravity, which connects several storylines via an elevator, June 19-July 19. Opening night is June 21

4. The second production in Shakespeare Dallas' 41st season, Much Ado About Nothing, opens June 20. Next week, it will start running in repertory with Tartuffe, at Samuell-Grand Amphitheatre in Tenison Park. The productions run through July 19

5. Fun House Theatre and Film riffs on the "junior" editions of musicals with the parody Jeff Swearingen's Game of Thrones, Jr. at the Plano Children's Theatre, June 20-28

The Dallas Arts District hosts the Summer Block Party, with  food trucks and more, plus tours, films and other happenings in the museums, the Crow Collection of Asian Art, Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center. 6 p.m.-midnight Friday, June 20

Turtle Creek Chorale closes its season with a concert of Divas Gone...But Not Forgotten, featuring the songs of Patsy Cline, Karen Carpenter, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse and others, 8 p.m. June 20-21 and 2:30 p.m. June 22 at Dallas City Performance Hall in the Dallas Arts District
