Every week in Places!, TheaterJones rounds up the weekend and coming week for theater, music, opera, dance and comedy performances that are opening/happening on North Texas stages.

This week: The Dallas Opera calls in the big Gunn, Uptown Players puts on a Pageant and Jubilee Theatre misbehaves.

1. The Dallas Opera closes its 2013-14 season with Rossini's The Barber of Seville, March 28-April 13 at the AT&T Performing Arts Center Winspear Opera House, running in rotating repertory with Korngold's Die Tote Stadt. Heads up: the free live simulcast of Barber, which features Nathan Gunn, Alek Shrader and Isabel Leonard, is April 11 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington (with free parking!). It will be paired with the Warner Bros./Bugs Bunny cartoon classic The Rabbit of Seville.

2. Uptown Players brings the funny with the return of the drag queen musical comedy Pageant, which pits contestants against each other, March 28-April 13 at the Kalita Humphreys Theater

3. Jubilee Theatre's revival of the Fats Waller revue Ain't Misbehavin' has been in previews, and officially opens March 28, running through April 20

4. Texas Ballet Theater performs Balanchine's Serenade, Ben Stevenson's L and the world premiere of Carl Coomer's Clann, March 28-30 at Dallas City Performance Hall

5. The Chamberlain Ballet presents Focal Pointe, a mixed repertoire, with guest artists from Ballet West, Beckanne Sisk and Tom Mattingly, also known from the reality TV show Breaking Pointe. 7:30 p.m. March 29 at the Eisemann Center in Richardson
