Campaign: Project X for the film Maid, written by Erik Ehn
Crowdfunding platform: Kickstarter
Ends: 11:59 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2014
More info: "Maid" is an imaginative retelling of the story of Joan of Arc, told through the veil of illegal immigration and transposed to present-day Marfa, Texas. It is the first film adaptation of the work of visionary American playwright Erik Ehn, directed by his long-time theatrical collaborator Raphael Parry. The short script distills many of the unique qualities of Erik’s writing, blending a contemplative spirit and deep seriousness of purpose with vibrant, lively poetry and often-breathtaking imagery.
We need help covering hard production costs for the film shoot in Marfa the week of December 13-20, 2014. With talent, crew, equipment and housing almost completely donated, our biggest challenge is covering the cost of travel for cast and crew, materials to build costumes and scenery, safety measures for our action sequences and special effects that will help bring Erik's astounding imagery to life. Our goal is to raise $7,500 from this campaign, with a stretch goal of $10,000. All contributions are tax-deductible.
Erik Ehn's play Diamond Dick: The Tulsa Race Riots of 1921 was acclaimed when Project X premiered it in Dallas in 2012 and then took it to New York as part or the Soulographie project.
