Campaign: Camp Death Productions presents the original spoof Silver Screen Slayer

Crowdfunding platform: Kickstarter

Goal: $1,200

Ends: 11:49 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2014

More infoJohnny Tewtones, Ace Detective, is just a simple Private Dick trying to make his way in a city rife with crime. When a sultry Hollywood dame with legs that go all the way up hires him to solve her own murder, he takes the case and heads for Tinseltown, the place were dreams come true and death is done in style. Who's picking off every actress cursed with playing the lead role in Mata Hari's Revenge? How will Johnny solve the crime in a town filled with paid liars? What does the up and coming Socialist Party from Germany have to do with any of it? And how many cliché monologues can one detective spew in a two-act play?

Camp Death Productions is very excited about this play. It's a hilarious spoof that pays homage to The Marx Brothers, Mel Brooks, the Three Stooges and more. We have an incredibly talented cast and crew, and a beautiful theatre that perfectly suits the show we are producing: The Margo Jones Theatre in Fair Park.

What we don't have is money for costumes, props and sets.  To get the look right, costumes are of paramount importance and as such take up a large part of our budget. Funds will also be used for set pieces, some of which will have to be built from scratch. Then, as always, there are always unexpected costs that can arise from building up a play from nothing.

We thank you for your consideration to our project and hope to see you out at the theatre when we open June 13th!
