Jake Nice returns to nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center with the first installment of the Elevator Project’s 2020 season: the world premiere of Slide By, written by former Dallas actor/writer Thomas Ward. Slide By is a dark comedy set one week after the Columbine High School shooting in 1999. It follows Chad Squier--once the state wrestling champ and big man on campus--who returns to his former high school as a substitute teacher amidst threats of a copycat attack. Chad is now adrift in his twenties, living at home and carrying the guilt of a suicide that happened during his senior year. After learning that most of the teachers have stayed home and the rest of them may be armed as the result of a district meeting, Chad tries to make it through the day unscathed.
