Svabhava is the intrinsic, essential nature of living beings. Human beings have the extraordinary ability and privilege to create meaning in their lives. But, how do
we give our lives meaning? Many believe we give life purpose by aspiring to be better versions of ourselves, by developing our character. But what is our true nature? Is it what we are born with, what we become through experience, or what we strive to be? As a community, what are these ideals we choose to focus on? Many cultures from around the world have aspired to rid the mind, body, and spirit of selfishness, pride, and dishonesty exemplified in the way we treat others. This is a Bharatanatyam dance production based on these ideals, what it means to our fundamental nature, and how it affects our daily life.
ABOUT INDIQUE: Indique is a Dallas based contemporary bharatanatyam dance company striving to connect with audiences beyond the Indian classical dance purview.
We hope to do this by bringing in universal themes in a way that people can relate to in their daily lives. Since its conception, Indique Dance Company has presented
several productions including Roots, Maa, The Many faces of Motherhood and Jeeva, Synergy in Nature to sold-out cultural halls. Based in Dallas, the company has
toured with their productions to Houston, San Antonio, and St Louis. Indique Dance Company continues to become a part of the cultural scene in Dallas with performances
at the Klyde Warren Park and Trammell and Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art, the Winspear Opera House, and the Meyerson Symphony Center. The Company also
strives to give back to the community by participating in charitable causes including Akshay Patra, Mosaic’s Champion of Human Rights Luncheon, and the Shraman
