After its award-winning production of Faust in 2015 and Wild, Wicked, Wyrd in 2016, The Drama Club (TDC) is back for the third October in a row. This time TDC has turned its eye to aiding in the development of new, local work in the hope that it can progress to a larger venue in Dallas and beyond.
Parables (for sleeping in daylight or dark) by Michael Federico (book, story) and Ian Ferguson (music, lyrics, story) follows a young woman named Eveline whose birth signaled a great change in the world! At least that’s what she tells us. In reality, as Eveline loses her connection to her family and friends, her grasp on the real world slowly slips away. With songs spanning styles from contemporary musical theater to Abba-esque disco pop to intergalactic punk, Parables brings its audience along with Eveline’s comedic and sometimes heartbreaking saga as the boundaries between her waking life and her far-flung reveries fall away.
