Sean Chen, third-prize winner at the Fourteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, was also awarded the Christel DeHaan Classical Fellowship of the American Pianists Association in 2013. Since then, he has continued to earn accolades for “alluring, colorfully shaded renditions” (The New York Times), and was named a 2015 fellow by the prestigious Leonore Annenberg Fellowship Fund for the Performing Arts. His appearances include the Milwaukee Symphony and Indianapolis Symphony and he has toured around the world: Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., Amsterdam, Paris, and Taipei. Mr. Chen was featured on the cover of Clavier Companion in May 2015, and recognized as “One to Watch” by International Piano Magazine in March 2014. A multifaceted musician, Mr. Chen is an advocate of new music and also transcribes, composes, and improvises himself. He has released three acclaimed recordings to date for the harmonia mundi usa, Steinway, and Parma labels.
