The Plano Civic Chorus will debut a captivating 2015-16 Choral Season on October 17 and 18 with musical artist, composer, and pianist Ola Gjeilo.
The chorus has commissioned a new work by Mr. Gjeilo in memory of Artistic Director Ralph Frederick Stannard’s father, John Frederick Stannard. Gjeilo (pronounced YAY-lo) will perform with the chorus as featured pianist, a fitting tribute to the elder Mr. Stannard, as the choir enters its 15th year of leadership under the baton of his son.
“Ola Gjeilo is one of the most creative voices in the choral world today. Critics, audiences, and singers alike have proclaimed his music as inventive, spiritual, deeply personal, fresh, exciting, and highly accessible. He works with profound texts that illustrate his keen sense of artistic expression,” says Ralph Stannard.
