Hector Guzman and the Plano Symphony Orchestra open the 2016-2017 Season with a celebration of “The Three B’s” - Bach, Beethoven and Brahms. Maestro Guzman is joined by the legendary pianist Jorge Federico Osorio. Mr. Osorio has won numerous international prizes and awards, including the prestigious Medalla Bellas Artes, the highest honor granted by Mexico’s National Institute of Fine Arts. The Cincinnati Enquirer hailed Osorio for “effortless virtuosity” and The New York Times praised a long overdue return to New York as “explosively virtuosic…beautifully articulated…” and a “…performance impossible to resist.” Osorio will be heard in Brahms' demanding Piano Concerto No 1.
Opening Night also includes the third of six Brandenburg Concertos by Bach, widely considered to be some of the best orchestral works ever written. Beethoven conducted the premiere of his Symphony No. 7, which resulted in such an ovation that the second movement was encored.
