Part spoken word, part hip hop, blu is a Chicano epic poem that tells the story of a queer Xicana couple raising a family torn apart by gangs, violence and war. Written by nationally renowned San Antonio playwright Virginia Grise and directed by Dallas’ own René Moreno blu pulses with music and poetry, sirens and helicopters. As the mother Soledad comes to terms with her past, the children come of age and face their future. Will the children continue the cycle of violence, or will they "rewrite the myth”? blu is the winner of the 2010 Yale Drama Series Award.
