Dance Council of North Texas (DCNT), in partnership with the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, announces the second annual Dallas DanceFest (DDF) which will take place on September 4-6, 2015 at Dallas City Performance Hall. This prestigious event presents performances on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM and culminates on Sunday afternoon with the acclaimed Dance Council Honors at 3:00 PM featuring an awards presentation and performance showcase.
Dallas DanceFest is a one-of-kind dance festival, each day consisting of a unique showcase of dance. The 2014 inaugural event “hit the jackpot” with 20 outstanding dance companies. It also honored eight distinguished dance professionals and highlighted eight talented recipients of DCNT scholarships. The festival showcased more than 200 dancers over three days. Riding high on the success of last year’s event, the second annual Dallas DanceFest will provide performance opportunities for up to 24 dance companies.
Applications to perform in this high-caliber festival are open to professional and pre-professional dance companies of all styles. Applications will be available from April 21 to May 21, 2015 at dallasdancefest.org. Each application may contain up to two works, and each dance may be a maximum of 10 minutes in length, including music and silence. Five curators will review applications and will be in search of works that demonstrate excellence in choreography, performance, and cultural diversity. Performance notifications will be announced by June 15, 2015. Detailed information is available at: dallasdancefest.org.
