The 2016 Shakespeare in the Park season closes with The Tempest, directed by Artistic Associate Rene’ Moreno. The sorcerer Prospero, rightful Duke of Milan, plots to restore his daughter Miranda to her rightful place. By creating a storm, the eponymous tempest, he lures his uprising brother Antonio and King Alonso of Naples to their island. After lessons are learned and true character is revealed, Prospero succeeds with the marriage of Miranda to Alonso’s son, Ferdinand. The production opens with performances at Samuell Grand Amphitheater on Sept. 21-25 and Sept. 28-Oct. 1, and will conclude with performances at Addison Circle Park Oct. 6-9 and Oct. 12-16.
