Dance Council of North Texas (DCNT), in partnership with the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, is thrilled to announce the companies, guest artists, and honorees participating in the third annual Dallas DanceFest (DDF) that will take place September 2-3 at Dallas City Performance Hall. This prestigious event features different performances on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 p.m., and includes presentations to 2016 Dance Council honorees, beginning with a VIP reception at 7:00 p.m. VIP tickets are available in the premium orchestra rows C and D and include admittance to the VIP reception at 7:00p.m. The VIP reception with include the opportunity to meet the honorees, and to enjoy two drink tickets and hoes d’oeuvres.
DDF 2016 will feature 17 exceptional companies from New York, Houston, Austin, and Dallas/Fort Worth. Audiences may expect each performance to be an exciting display of dance styles including – ballet, modern, hip-hop, classical Indian dance, contemporary, tap, and classical Korean dance. Invited guest artists will be named soon and in addition to student recipients of recent DCNT summer intensive scholarships. 2016 Dance Council Honors celebrates the accomplishments of distinguished individuals whose passion and commitment to the dance community have greatly impacted the art form in North Texas. This year’s honorees include Edward Villela, receiving the Mary McLarry Bywaters Award for Lifetime Achievement to Dance, Melissa Young: Natalie Skelton Award for Artistic Excellence, Christian Waits: Mary Warner Award for Outstanding Service to Dance, Elizabeth Gillaspy: Larry White Dance Educator Award, and Mary Six Rupert: Buster Cooper Tap Legend Award.
