Jill Farrington Sweeney is a Fort Worth native, but spent most of the last decade living in New York, so she’s so glad to have the chance to get to know the local arts scene (again). After four years spent essentially living in her high school theater, she graduated with a BA in English Literature from the University of Dallas (after briefly considering a double major pursuing English and Drama, life intervened), and then obtained her JD at St. John’s University School of Law. Jill’s day job is working as the Policy Director for a local government agency helping guide policy that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She was fortunate enough to grow up in a theatre-loving family—Jill’s mother, Jan Farrington, is also a contributing writer for TheaterJones, and her sister Kate is a dramaturg and teaches theater as an adjunct professor at three New York City universities—and feels honored to have the chance to write about her passions.
