Wayne Lee Gay has covered classical music and opera in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for decades, and was named a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for criticism in 1990. He holds degrees in music history and musicology from Baylor University and the University of Iowa, and holds the doctorate in creative writing from the University of North Texas. In addition to his activity as a critic and commentator on classical music, his fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction has appeared in numerous literary journals and anthologies, including Best Gay Stories 2011 and the Weight of Addition anthology of Texas poets. He is a past recipient of first prize of the Saints and Sinners LGBT Literary Festival fiction competition, the Frank O’Connor Award for short fiction, and the David Saunders Award for Creative Nonfiction, as well as awards for commentary and criticism from the Dallas Press Club and the Texas Association of Associated Press Managing Editors. He currently teaches in the English department at the University of Texas at Arlington. He dances as often as possible at the Roundup Saloon country-western dance hall in Dallas. Thanks For Reading
