I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE is off-Broadway’s longest running musical celebrating the mating game and exploring the joys of dating, romance, marriage, husbands, wives and in-laws.  It delivers a hilarious, bittersweet and refreshingly honest look at love and relationships.  The witty script and lyrics get down to the real meat of relationships glorifying such awkward, intimate and painful moments as bad first dates, meeting the parents, and being dragged to a dreaded "chick flick."  This musical revue pays tribute to those who have loved and lost, to those who have fallen on their face at the portal of romance, to those who have dared to ask, "Say, what are you doing Saturday night?"

Uptown Players 2012 bonus show at the Rose Room Theater is another parody from Jamie Morris, the creator of the smash hits The Facts Of Life and Mommie Queerest entitled Silence of the Clams. In this parody of the 1990 Oscar-winning Jodie Foster/Anthony Hopkins thriller, butch FBI agent Clarice Startling is assigned to help find Nancy Pelosi's missing daughter and save her from "Beaver Bob," a serial killer who skins his victims "down there." Clarice attempts to gain better insight into the mind of the killer by interviewing Dr. Hannibal Lichter, a convicted psychopath who "eats" his female victims before he kills them. The twisted relationship forces Clarice not only to confront her own psychological demons, but leads her face-to-face with a demented killer so evil that even she may not have the courage—or strength—to stop him!

Cecil alibis to Officer Doughberg as he tries to explain why he and his partner, Pug, were caught in a funeral home in the middle of the knight.  He figures to confuse the policeman with fast talk and mumbo-jumbo.  Actually, they were there to heist a few trinkets, which is what Doughberg figured all along.  What nobody figured on was when Beulah Meadows, the owner of the place, showed up and recognized Cecil as her long lost son!   Cecil, it seemed, was really Jimmy Meadows who vanished from an amusement park some twenty five years earlier.  The two would-be burglars decide to stick around for a few free meals.  "After all," explains Cecil, "we didn't pull this stunt and it makes the old lady happy". This, of course, comes as a tragic shock to Beulah's daughters, who were just about to sell the funeral home for quite a bundle.  "We'll have to get rid of him," intones Gretchen, the oldest daughter, "one way or another'. Before you know it, the place is overrun with other-worldly sisters, whining lawyers, policemen, psychiatrists and nuns!  Is Cecil really there to help out his would-be mother?  Or is he sticking because he has a crush on Joan, the mortician?  And Is Cecil really Beulah's long lost son?  Find out in this frantic farce when two conmen set out to lift a few pieces of silverware and end up Stealing Home.

Harakiri is a ceremonial disembowelment specifically performed in front of spectators. This public self-execution creates a ritual of performance in the act of death. An idea that is at the basis of all performance--every moment you step on the stage could be your last; if you do not leave your soul out there for all to witness, if you do not die with every performance, have you lived honorably?

Jazz songstress Madeleine Peyroux’s road to fame is as romantic as her sound. Having honed her vocal and guitar skills on the famously unique, acoustic streets of Europe, Peyroux’s style was inspired by jazz legends such as Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith and Louis Armstrong. She is perhaps best known to her fans for intimately arranging covers of early American blues and jazz music. Some of her most notable albums include 2005’s Careless Love and 2009’s Bare Bones. Peyroux has collaborated with heavy hitters such as Joe Henry, Steely Dan’s Walter Becker and the Rolling Stones’ Bill Wyman, and went on tour last year with Diana Krall and Melody Gardot in Australia. Her new album will be released this year.

Melba Pattillo was 15 when she and eight other black students integrated the prestigious Central High School in Little Rock, Ark., in 1957. They became known as the "Little Rock Nine." Melba's story shows surprising strength for a young girl. She wanted access to the lunch counter at the five-and-dime, to the "whites only" ladies rooms, to public water fountains, to the auditorium so she could see Elvis Presley, and, most of all, to a good education. Her memoir, Warriors Don't Cry, is a chilling account of the tumultuous year that changed her life and our nation's history. The stage play is a searing one-woman, one-hour adaptation of the Melba Pattillo Beals memoir by Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright Eisa Davis.

Two young married couples decide to take a weekend vacation together out by a lake. They've known each other since college and are best friends. What the men don't know is that their wives are having an affair. What the wives don't know is that their husbands aren't being faithful either. This play is inspired by the over-the-top Spanish Telenovelas and is written by our most popular and resident playwright Alejandro de la Costa.
