And They're Off!

The order for the 30 pianists is set for the 14th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, which begins Friday.

On Wednesday night, the 14th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition "draw party" was held at the Worthington Renaissance Hotel, and the order of performance was selected for the 30 pianists. American Claire Huangci goes first, and Russian Yury Favorin is last.

But this year, there's a new twist to the Cliburn: The preliminary rounds have two phases, so each pianist goes twice. After we get through the list once, it starts over again.

Here is the order of play, and the link on each name goes to our TheaterJones profile, where you can read more about them and see their entire competition repertoire.

Keep on eye on TheaterJones.com as we'll have analysis of every performance in the competition, by our classical music critic Gregory Sullivan Isaacs. We'll also have an audio recap of each day.
